Sly was a Dee Jay at KSOL in the San Francisco/Bay Area in the early 60s where he

went against main stream soul and played white artists on his program including The

Beatles and The Stones. When he wasn't behind the mike he was a successful record

producer and helped give national exposure to such Bay area bands The Beau Brummels,

The Mojo Men and a little known female singer-Grace Slick and her first band The

Great Society.Sly & The Family Stone were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.

My Favorite song is 1968s-"Dance To The Music"which is possibly the very first disco

    influenced song.

    Everybody is a Star

Btw, I took my parents to see Sly and the Family Stone 3-4 years ago at the House of Blues, and we literally stood there for four hours waiting for him to come onstage. The gig was supposed to start at 7, but it didn't start until 11 p.m.!! He kept peeking through the curtain while we all shouted his name. Later, he walked offstage right in the middle of a song to use the toilet and get a drink from the bar. Classic stuff, LOL.

    Sly's the man!!!

I saw him play a couple of years ago and unfortunately the years, most probably the drug abuse, haven't been kind to him. He only appeared for about half the show. It was billed as a ''Family Stone'' concert but i think he was the only original member present. To be honest, I was just glad to see him back in action.

I love this early Sly track...
