How gruesome are most eye surgeries?
I am a senior in high school and the career looks quite prosperous and appealing. That technological advancements in the field of optometry are remarkable and pretty cool. However I am a guy that can get really qeezee when it comes to surgeries and blood and all that.

optometrists do not do surgery or cutting on the eye. They screen for eye diseases. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors with a M.D degree who operate on the eye. They are eye surgeons. I wouldn't worry. If you are squeemish of blood I would avoid going to medical school and choose something more laid back like optometry or psychology.

I doubt there'd be much blood around the eye and forehead region, considering there's simply not that much flesh there, or massive layers of fat beneath it.
You can watch open face-surgery online somewhere I'm sure of it. See it there before you consider it

If you get queasy then you should avoid any medical career. Having said that there wasn't any blood in my LASIK surgery.
