Please answer, is there any serious risk of radiation poisoning in Tokyo?
The distance between Fukushima and Tokyo is huge but I don't know what to believe in the news anymore. I have family in Tokyo and I'm terrified. Anyone from Japan who can answer me, please please tell me: is there a very great risk of radiation leaking all the way to Tokyo? What do they say over there (as opposed to what I'm hearing on the World News)? Please...

You're scared and so am I. All of the Japanese residents around me are... kinda scared, but keep going on with daily life.
As an update, not to alarm you but a SMALL amount of radioactive material has flown as far as Yokohama. Is it harmful? No, not yet. Should you panic? Well, this is going to sound hypocritical, because I myself, am panicing, but probably there is no need to panic yet.
The one thing that sticks in my mind is that the Japanese government, while sometimes being secretive about many things, does go out of it's way to protect its people (and in this sense, that means us non-natives too). This isn't just to save lives but to save face as well. If millions got radiation poisoning, Japan would never hear the end of it... or maybe they just wouldn't survive it on all levels.
Considering this is a country known as the top in danger assessment, while I won't say it's 100% safe, you are in the best hands you could probably be in.
Either way, if there truely is need for an evacuation, you would probably know about it, before the problem arrises. If your country calls for you to return to your home country, then follow their steps. Some European countries already have, but apparently North America hasn't yet. I would suggest in the meantime to do your best to keep calm and keep doing what your doing, while waiting for more definite information.

There is a small chance of radioactivity. Tokyo is experiencing higher than normal raidiation, but the normal legal amount is actually so small that timesing the amount won't harm humans. That being said, the government isn't stupid and if there was a chance of a total meltdown they would have started the evacuation of Tokyo as well as what was evacuated. They know millions of lives are in tokyo and it would take time to evacuate so they would be smart enough to plan it out if they had any beliefs that the radiation will cause Tokyo harm.

Get your family out if you possibly can.
There is already 2-4 times the normal radiation in Chiba, and Yokohama. And that is the OFFICIAL stance - I would not be surprised if the true story is worse. The government has a history of hiding these kind of things ...

They are doing their best to cool down the reactor with sea water, and it's working. Even though the plant will be destroyed, the safety of people is more important.
Calm down, if there was anything really dangerous, they would evacuate people at risk.

I'm pretty sure it would affect people in Tokyo if they failed but they're trying their best. If you're scared, you should wear a mask glasses.
