Do you think that Pittsburgh would support a second NFL team?

Lets say the vikings moved to Pittsburgh and became the Maulers and shared Heinz field with the Steelers. Do you think that after a while they would have fan support?

    No way.

I have been to PA with my dad for his buisness trip once. During football season. Wow, the locals are INSANLEY obsessed with the Steelers. I think they wouldn't support a second NFL team. They seem to in love with the Steelers. Support is good I guess.

Steeler fans are the ultimate untested, fair weather band wagon fans.

Unlike all other team in pro football, the Steeler fans have never had to prove their loyalty in tough times because there haven't been tough times in 40 years. The absolute worst the Steelers have done is 6-10 in 1988. That was a long time ago and if 6-10 is your idea of a disastrous season, then you have no clue and you need to have a serious talk with a Bengals, Lions, or Bill fan.

Sure, even though Pittsburgh is one of the smallest markets, they could support two teams - as long as the Maulers won. However, if the Maulers lost and lost a lot, Pittsburgh fans would stay away in droves. They don't know how to lose is Pittsburgh. Look at their support for the Pirates. I suspect that they are really the worst fans in football because they have never had to prove their worth as fans and frankly, I bet most of them are simply along for the easy ride and the reflected glory.

Until the day comes that Steelers "fans" stick by their team through prolonged tough times, then they are the worst bandwagon fans in existance to me.

Wow do you really like Heinz could possibly support that? They'd be stuck on astroturf if they tried, they already have Pitt playing there as well as the Steelers. No Pittsburgh wouldn't support them. The ONLY reason that New York has two teams is because the one is an original AFL Franchise as well. the NFL wouldn't put them both there like that, let alone see both actually have a following the way they do.

No. The Steelers seem to be the dominant team in PA, along with the Eagles. I don't think fans would flock to see another team in the same area, because it seems to me the team has been and is successful. Fans are loyal to their base, and I think the majority of football fans in Pittsburgh are loyal to the Steelers. Do you really think that fans would support another team just after the Steelers were in the super bowl? I don't think so. Also, I don't think the Steelers would share a field with anyone. Sharing the field with another team isn't exactly the best thing. Why would the Steelers of all franchises share their legendary field with another team? I just can't see it.

I don't think so. Few cities could support two teams really. Sure, New York can, but there are over 20 million people in the metro area. Pittsburgh? 2.5. There just isn't the population. Plus, the Steelers would always over-shadow any other team.

They have the amount of people to do so, HOWEVER there is not a chance it would survive or be accepted by Steelers fans. We live and die as Steelers fans, period.

It would be like the Lakers and Clippers. One team has great history and wins and the other is horrid and has no fan support becuase of the other team always contending
