How can I block pings on my LAN with my Linksys WRT54GS?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 5, and I would like to block pings for every host on my network. I do not want any host to be able to ping any other host. I went into the configuration, and looked under the Access Restrictions tab. I tried creating a policy and setting ping as a blocked service, but pings are still going across the network. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how I can deny pings on my Linksys router?

I don't think that is possible with the WRT54GS. The only thing the router would offer is the ability to block pings from the internet reaching your LAN.

What you are describing is a feature offered by managed switches such as the Cisco 2960. Home routers are not that advanced.

And no, it's not a bad idea to block them. It is actually recommended to block internet computers from pinging your network because that is how malicious attacks happen once they know your network is "live". Pinging from LAN machine to another LAN machine is pretty useless unless you are trying to troubleshoot internal connectivity issues. Then you wouldn't want to block it.

you can't with that hardware. the portion where the devices are connected to is just an unmanaged switch.

it's a bad idea to block them anyways, there is no reason to block 2 computers that are internal to your network from pinging each other.
