  • How does VMware work?

The company that I work for uses VMware for virtual servers. I am very curious as to how VMware works. I know that there is a vSphere client that you open to manage all of the virtual servers, but I really want a detailed description of the following:

    1) What is the difference between vSphere, vCenter, VMware, and ESX?

    2) How do you create a new virtual server? Do you need a physical server to host the virtual server? How does it all come together in VMware?

    3) How do you connect a virtual server to a physical network?

Those are questions that I really want answers to, but I want to get a full understanding of how VMware works.

  • What is the name of this song?

I heard a song on the radio this morning, but I cannot find the name of it. Part of the song's lyrics were la la la la la, la la la la la la la. These lyrics were the main part of the song. It was an African male singer, and someone was playing the drum. I believe it is a popular song, but I cannot find the name of it, or who sings it.

  • How do I remove empty space from MP3 files?

I have several MP3 music files that have a lot of empty space in the beginning and the end of the song. I would like to have around 450 milliseconds of empty space in the beginning of the song, and 2 seconds at the end. Up to this point, I was using a program called Music Editor Free. It has the ability to eliminate the empty space, but I want a program that allows you to type in how much empty space you would like to have. Every program that I have seen requires you to manually move a line up to the point that you want deleted and then pressing Delete, but I find this to be very time consuming. I really need a program that is easier to work with.

  • What is causing my forehead to be numb?

For the past week or so, my forehead is numb. At some times, it seems like the numbness is severe, while at other times, it feels much less severe. I also have a little trouble hearing, and I also have a small headache that comes one minute, and goes away the next. I do not have any memory loss, and I am not dizzy. My stomach is also upset, although I do not have diarrhea, and I did not throw up. I have to sneeze a few times during the day, but not very often. I am also occasionally sweating more than usual. I did not go to a doctor about all of this yet, but I do not know if it is necessary to go to one or not. But from what I described, what kind of illness do I have?

  • Help with using IIS on Windows XP?

I have a Toshiba laptop that has Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 on it. I am using IIS 5.1 on that computer, to allow other users to remotely control my computer. I am able to remotely control this laptop from another computer on the same network, but I cannot remotely control the laptop over the Internet. To remote control this computer on one of my other computers on a different network, I open Internet Explorer, and type in my public IP address, followed by the port number, which is 3390, slash tsweb. In other words, it is like this: http://x.x.x.x:3390/tsweb. Once I go to that page, it asks for a server. I type in the local IP address of my laptop, which is 192.168.3.7, and then I click Connect. If I do all of this from a computer that is on the same network as my laptop, the remote desktop starts. But if I do this from another network (across the Internet), it still asks me for the server. But once I press Connect, I get a message that says: "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1) Remote access to the server is not enabled; 2) The remote computer is turned off; 3) The remote computer is not available on the network. Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled." I only get this message when I try to remotely control my laptop over the Internet. Like I mentioned earlier, this problem does not exist if I try to remotely control my laptop on another computer on the same network. Since I am able to access the page that asks me for the server when I am connecting from an outside network, that proves that my router is forwarding port 3390 to my laptop. But when I go to IIS, and then go to the properties of the default website that is there, and then go to the Web Site tab, and then click on Advanced next to where it says Web Site Identification, it shows that the default IP address is being used, along with port 3390. That is the only thing that is listed there. On the other hand, my laptop is using a firewall program called Comodo. I tried turning that firewall off, but the problem did not go away. Windows Firewall is turned off. Windows Firewall is not protecting any network interfaces on my laptop, and there are no exceptions selected. I tried doing some research on this topic, but the problem did not go away. I need everyone to give me a very detailed and clear solution that may possibly fix the problem that I am having.

  • The music used at Jehovah's Witnesses Assemblies and Conventions?

This question is for Jehovah's Witnesses. During Circuit Assemblies and District Conventions, everyone sings to the Orchestra form of the songs during the program. At Kingdom Halls, on the other hand, everyone sings to the Piano Accompaniment versions of the songs. I would really like to get a copy of the Orchestra form of all 135 songs from the Sing to Jehovah songbook, for our congregation to use. What can I possibly do to get a copy of those songs? Once again, I am not referring to the Kingdom Melodies played before the Assembly or Convention program. I am referring to the songs that are sung to, during the program. There are many reasons why I would like our congregation to use the Orchestra form of the songs, since it is nicer than the Piano Accompaniment version of the songs.

  • Why is my keyboard typing numbers instead of letters?

I am using a desktop computer. For some applications, including my email program and some gaming programs, my computer thinks that I am typing in numbers, when I am actually typing in letters. For example, when I press "a," it shows up as a 1. Then, when I press another letter, it shows up as a 2, and it does that for every letter that I type. When I type a letter, the computer will type in the numbers 0-9. This means that when I type in "gaming," for example, it will show up as 123456. I tried using several different PS/2 and USB keyboards, but the problem is not going away. What can I do to fix this problem?

  • Can someone please help me to understand this IP-PBX setup?

An organization that I belong to has an IP-PBX. They have 3 analog phones connected to it. They have an Ethernet connection going from the PBX to a cable modem, which then goes to the cable company. All of the cables that go to the PBX are labeled. But I noticed that 2 cables not going to any phones were labeled with phone numbers (each cable carrying its own number; phone numbers that are used to call the organization from outside). I assume that those cables are getting a dial tone from the phone company, not the cable provider. From what I see, it appears that the PBX has an Internet connection from the cable company, but it is getting the 2 phone numbers from the phone company. How did they set this up? Why would they choose this setup? What are the advantages of having this kind of setup? Please explain this to me in as much detail as possible.

  • Can someone please help me with a reversed line issue on my phone line?

When I connect a cable tester to a phone jack on the wall, it says that the line is okay. But when I connect a phone line to the jack, and then connect that phone line to the cable tester, it is giving me a reversed line reading. I am able to fix this problem by connecting a second phone line to that phone line, using a coupler. But is it normal for the phone line that goes to the phone to be reversed, or should that also have a normal reading on my cable tester?

  • Can someone please help me out with this picture challenge?

Below is a link to a picture puzzle that I need help with. The challenge is that you need to draw the entire figure without taking your pen/pencil off of the paper, and you cannot draw over a line more than once. The link has every line color coded with the directions L (left) and R (right). Please tell me where to start with this picture, and where to go from there, in order to complete the challenge. I would suggest saying something similar to this: 1) Start at Green, and go left to right, 2) Go to Black, go right to left, and so on. A lot of people that tried to do this puzzle could not figure it out, but I really want to know how to do it. Someone told me that it is possible. Here is the link:

  • How would I connect multiple RJ45 crossover cables together?

On my home network, I have 2 switches that I want to connect together. I have 3 separate RJ45 cables, and the cables connect together with couplers. Currently, all 3 of the cables are crossovers. The combined length of all of the cables is around 115 feet. One end of each of the cables has a crossover pin configuration, and the other end has a straight-through pin configuration. Would having this setup on my home network cause any problems, like packet loss or slower speeds? The connection appears to be okay, but I am just curious.

  • What should I look for when eliminating static on a VoIP line?

A small organization that I belong to has VoIP service, with 2 phone numbers. The VoIP service connects to a Motorola cable modem, and the modem connects to a Linksys router. Then, they connected an IP-PBX to that Linksys router. Then, all 3 of their phones connect to the IP-PBX with RJ11 connectors. But you can hear a lot of static on every phone. I volunteered to fix the problem. What specific things should I look for with the cabling or the configuration of the PBX, when fixing this problem? Please give me as much detail as possible. I do not know the model number of the PBX.

  • Access Restrictions on my Linksys WRT54GS?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 5, and under the Access Restrictions tab, I see that you can set ping as a blocked service. But when I do that, pings are not blocked on my LAN. What is the purpose of setting ping as a blocked service? That does not have anything to do with the pings going to the Internet port, since the box that says "Block anonymous Internet requests" blocks those pings.

  • How can I block pings on my LAN with my Linksys WRT54GS?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 5, and I would like to block pings for every host on my network. I do not want any host to be able to ping any other host. I went into the configuration, and looked under the Access Restrictions tab. I tried creating a policy and setting ping as a blocked service, but pings are still going across the network. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how I can deny pings on my Linksys router?

  • On Cisco Packet Tracer, how do I setup a VoIP network with 2 routers?

I am trying to setup a VoIP network on Cisco Packet Tracer. I know how to configure telephone service on the 2811 router. But I would like to have 2 routers with telephones connected to both routers, and I would like each phone on each router to communicate with every phone. In other words, let's say that I have a router named Router-A and another router named Router-B. I want telephones connected to both routers, and I want a phone connected to Router-A to be able to call Router-B, etc. Please tell me in detail which commands I should use, and which routing protocols I should use.
