Can someone please help me with a reversed line issue on my phone line?

On purpose a modular phone cord is reversed. I don't remember why, it just is. It only makes a difference if your phone is polarity sensitive, ie the tone pad won't dial out, but the modular conversion actually compensates for that. Of course if for some really odd reason you require proper polarity in phone lines (then they're called trunks as in Ground Start to a PBX) you'll know it because PBX ground start trunks don't ring if they're reversed.

We normally try to have correct polarity, but we don't worry about it if it isn't.

It's supposed to be red-to-red and green-to-green

honestly what difference does the polarity matter? are you using an old rotary phone or something...

modern telecom equipment does not care if the polarity is reversed or not...

tip = green wire, or the white wire with the colored stripe, on the left or top screw terminal..

ring = red wire, or the solid color wire, on the right or bottom screw terminal..
