Home schooling in California I am confused...?
I read that in 2008 a court ruled you had to have a degree to teach at home...but after doing research it seems thats not that case?? was it repealed?
Currently I live in AZ but plan to move to CA this year and I want to make sure I can homeschool without a degree.
Help!
Thanks!

It was never a law. A judge in a custody case misunderstood the educational codes in CA and ruled that the mother in the custody case could not teach her children at home because she was not a teacher. His ruling in that case was thrown out because it had no legal standing.
Homeschooling is not a term used in the laws in CA. There are no laws making it legal or illegal. What is considered homeschooling by the laws in most US states falls under the private school laws in CA. Parents who want to "homeschool" register their home as an unaccredited private school.
ETA: HSLDA is at fault for the claims that homeschooling was made illegal in CA unless the parent(s) have teaching degrees. They make their money by having homeschoolers in fear that homeschooling is/will become illegal. Therefore they over exaggerate any case involving homeschooling when the facts show that HSLDA is actually the reason for laws becoming so restrictive in many states. You see HSLDA wants to become the legal governing body for all homeschoolers in the US and has gone as far as trying to get a federal law passed that would make them such. They have also misrepresented their authority to the US Coast Guard Academy and claimed as such.
