Is it true Obama said we are safe from radiation?

Is it true that we are safe? And even if high radiation levels somehow make it to the US, is he preparing to protect us with another speech about Women's History Month? Will he go on ESPN to protect us with basketball talk? Will he fiddle as the world burns?

Chernobyl only ever resulted in a 60 kilometer diameter exclusion zone -- but you feel free to panic from the other side of the planet all you want. Put an ice bucket over your head, swing from the shower rod, and hoot -- you'll feel a lot better.

Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow both did their MSNBC shows tonight on this topic, with experts in the field as their guests. "The Ed Show" on MSNBC also addressed the topic, and you can probably get a second viewing of President Obama's brief speech on C-SPAN.

There has been a bit of panic among the American people at the thought of radiation from Japan reaching American cities or shores, and the e-mails I got from the White House show there have been several meetings (or briefings) on this topic the last few days. President Obama did indeed say that any radiation amounts which might conceivably drift will not be at dangerous levels based on experts' assessment of the current situations in Japan. We have teams of physicists and nuclear scientists in Japan working to alleviate the problems and prevent widespread damages (see whitehouse.gov for the details), so no to your facetious questions.

    I live in San Francisco.

We are going to start getting radiation from Fukushima beginning tomorrow.

But it will only be the small traces that had manged to climb to 30,000 feet

in order to be carried across the Pacific. Most radiation there stayed around 5,000 feet

and was not carried off towards America.

We are not safe, especially in California. In fact, I have connections that say that government workers have been telling pharmacies to stock up on iodine, which cam help prevent thyroid cancer. I honestly don't think that anybody knows the real situation of everything or the possible outcomes. Either way, I'm eating iodized salt and not going to eat fish for a good ten years...

no, your source would desire to cite their sources the place are there those mysterious swimming pools. that's a clue, they do no longer USE BURIED PIPES AT NUCLEAR plant life. by utilising regulation all lines are above floor so as that they are able to be watched 24/7.

All I can say is, I'm glad I don't live in Hawaii or California.

What do you expect him to say anyway? To wrap your house in plastic and duct tape.

There is absolutely nothing he can do to stop the radiation.

If Obama told me the sky was blue I'd question it.
