Denon AVR 1911 vs Onkyo TX-SR608?

If given the choice which one of these would be a better receiver. Spec wise, the Onkyo looks really good. Thoughts?

I owned the Onkyo TX-SR608 and ended up giving it to my next door neighbor and buying the Denon AVR1910 (basically the same as the 1911). I much prefer the sound of the Denon. Also, after about two years, my Onkyo stopped producing the on-screen menu display. After a litting searching on the net I discovered that a lot of the TX series receivers have this problem.

While their quality is still better than brands like Sony, I feel that Onkyo has gone down hill the past 10 years. They are still nice receivers, but when compared to Denon's warm, clear audio, it comes up short.

The main advantage I see that Onkyo has over Denon is price, they offer similar specs features and output for a better price...but if the price is the same... I would go for a Denon almost every time...Denon just has a reputation for quality over many years, and there equipment also just has the feel of quality, and a reputation for reliability Onkyo has improved considerably over the last decade or two and offers some great product at astounding prices...but they still do not have the reputation that Denon has....I personally use an Onkyo receiver right now and I used a Denon before that...I was quite excited about getting the Onkyo because I have heard so much about them and its a nice reciever and I am happy with it....but having owned both...I also know what Denon is like and I would still prefer Denon all else being equal....

For 10 years, I have always purchased what I considered to be the best of the mid-range names in receivers (JVC, SONY, etc). Stepping into the HDMI world, I decided to explore higher quality names such as Denon. By comparison, the sound that the AVR 1911 produces is shocking.I mean jaw-dropping. The music sounds so crisp and alive. It's like fresh organic produce vs canned vegetables. The HDMI 1.4a support will allow me to upgrade to 3D devices with no problem.

Denon AVR 1911 vs Onkyo TX-SR608, both very good models, but with regard to sound, Denon wins.
