What is the best basketball hoop for the money?

My son is 11 and loves basketball. We own a house. I'm thinking of a portable system, to avoid the hassle of installation. It looks like Lifetime or Spalding are my options. Anybody have a preference on make, model, size, looks, etc...?

Rick, I was talking with one of our installers up in New York the other day and he said the best one going as far as assembly goes is Lifetime. I like the look of the Spalding Beast but can't say I have played on it.

I know you said that you wanted to avoid an in-ground basketball goal because of the assembly but I can tell you from experience that assembly time is drastically better on Pro Dunk in-ground basketball goal than any portable. There are only eight main bolts to the whole thing. You are going to get a bucket full with any portable.

Also, in-ground systems play better and take up less space. I'd recommend putting in the work on the front-end for a better experience for years to come.
