COLLEGE ALGEBRA QUESTIONS! 10 POINTS TO THE FIRST, CORRECT ANSWER!?

I recieved a take home test yesterday and there's these two word questions I just can't get. Thanks in advance for your help!

1) The Owner of a video store has determined that the cost C, in dollars, of operating the store is approximately given by C(x)= 2x^2-22x+680. where x is the number of videos rented daily. Find the lowest cost to the nearest dollar.

and...

2) The area of a garden is 3840 square feet, and the length of its diagonal is 104 feet. Find the dimensions of the garden.

THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!!!

Update:

Callie:

For number 1, wouldn't you have to solve for x though in order to find it?

Update 2:

Franz, the professor told us we could go online if we were having a hard time. That's why it's called a take home test. I'm fifteen, give me a break.

    1) C= $680.00

(You plug 0 in for x, as that's the lowest you can go without being negative.)

    2) 36.9230769 feet

    Divide 3804 by 104.

the two issues which you get carry of incorrect maximum often interior the above are: a million. sq. is the different of sq. root, no longer the comparable. So the sq. of x is x^2, or x * x, mutually as the sq. root of x is ?x. 2. "is", "equals', or "is comparable to" recommend that there is an equation, and subsequently an equivalent sign. If no longer something like "is", "equals", or "is comparable to" is present, then there isn't any equivalent sign, and what you have is purely an expression. ok, directly to the subject concerns: a million. superb! 2. superb, assuming that the two a and b are below the sq. root bar. 3. this is actual if the project asked for "the sq. root of b". If it asked for "the sq. of b", then the excellent answer is: y^3 * 4 + 5b^2 which might often be written as 4y^3 + 5b^2 4. there is an "is", so there could be an equivalent sign. x = 2y 5. superb! 6. You by twist of fate hit shift and have been given % fairly than 5, yet in addition, you neglected the plus sign. 10(3a) + 5(4x - 8) 7. Squared, no longer sq. root. A = 6E^2 8. "21 inches greater suitable than the width" is W + 21. L = W + 21 9. superb! 10. there isn't any "is" or "equivalent", so this could not be an equation. x*y - 7 11. First, "pi" is written "pi", in case you have no longer have been given the somewhat "pi" image accessible. It should not be written as purely "p". 2nd, this is two times the product, no longer two times the sum. c = 2 * pi * r or purely c = 2 pi r 12. back, sq., no longer sq. root. m^2 + n^2
