4 year old Siberian husky has started peeing inside?

We have a 4 year old Siberian husky that we got as a stray at about 1 year old. She was already house trained and have not had any problems other than the occasional accident. Last week she has started peeing in the house at least once a day, even once on the bed.

Any ideas on the causes or what to do to help?

Update:

As far as any events. She is more attached to my husband and he did leave to go see family for a week but he was back home for at least 5 days before this started

Some dogs feel the urge to urinate frequently when they have urinary-tract infections. Irritation of the bladder wall due to infection can lead to reflexive bladder contractions . Bladder stones can also cause an irritation to the bladder causing an increased urge to urinate. Other bladder conditions causing the dysfunction are tumors and polyps of the bladder.

Its not that the dog is crazy its that you are are not an effective pack leader in your home.My suggestion is getting yourself and your dog in with an experienced trained because otherwise 4 months from now when your still blaming this on your dog, shes going to end up in a shelter. I have trained and owned huskys ,pitbulls, rotts both young and old .The problem is always people getting dogs when they dont understand the Alpha role and how to get that dog to respect you in that role...these dogs almost always end up in a shelter for one reason or another and its not the dog! Im sure this isnt what you wanted to hear and it might sound a little harsh but its the truth ! Find a good trainer in your area, read everything that you can about establishing Alpha, and do the work that you need to do in order to help yourself and this dog,if not find a husky rescue in your area and turn the dog over before you screw it up and someone else has to fix the bad habits that you have helped your dog learn.

Is she spayed? Many females can develop incontinence due to spaying - its the reduction in estrogen.

There is a medication that is relatively inexpensive - it must be given to the dog every day for the rest of her life.

Beyond that, its impossible to say based on your post if the problem is behavioural - but whenever a dog exhibits a very different behaviour that is out of character - the dog should be checked by the vet.

She could also have a urinary tract infection - or (if unspayed) the beginning of pyometra.

Its impossible for me to say - the vet is your best bet.

It might be hard to hold her bladder. Go to the vet to get her checked. She might have something wrong with her valves.

She may have a UTI....take her to the Vet. :-)

Is she drinking more water than usual?
