A Canadian minor (15) arrested for shoplifting in the States?

I was recently arrested for shoplifting at Bellingham Target in the state of Washington when I was on vacation.

It was $20 worth of trading cards, ( I know, it's stupid, i would never steal again )

They caught me with video evidence, told me the fine would probably be $500, and they called the police who told me that i have to go to juvenile court in 2 weeks, which means I have to go back to the States.

1) What do you think will happen to me, they told me I would probably get a $500, but there wont be jail time or anything right?

2) As a foreigner on vacation from Canada, is there any exceptions I can make?

3) Should I even bother hiring an attorney knowing that I probably can't win this case?

Thank you for helping!

You can hire a US attorney to appear in court on your behalf.

The court recignises, you have to go back to school in canada, and can not possibly be present at the hearing.

Speak to a US based lawyer to appear on your behalf.

Shoplifting is against the regulation, consequently you would be arrested for it no count what your age is. some agencies would verify to basically call your mothers and fathers and characteristic you trespassed from the valuables, yet arrest is often a call. you have not any protection to this given which you incredibly did it. tell the courtroom the actuality. If it is your first offense, you will get a delicate punishment. Be apologetic in courtroom in case you're allowed to chat. do not attempt to argue that the police did not have the main astonishing to arrest you. it is going to basically make you look worst and invite the courtroom to offer you a harsher punishment.

As someone who built up his impressive collection of Magic cards by stealing from Target, I wish you all the best.
