Dog Education Vote - re post question?

Okay, i posted this about half an hour ago and it never showed up that i could tell....

It's getting to crunch time - i'm starting to get things set up for the neighborhood sale and i'm still looking for votes on what topic i should cover this year. So far there is a tie between two topics (won't say which yet) so i need more votes to pinpoint what i'm going to do!

Only seven weeks left! Also feel free to vote here, i WILL take answers into account.

Legit: What trait(s) drew you to your dog (or to your chosen breed)?

I did vote on your website, for a topic that is too often overlooked.

Prospective pet owners need to know that, just because a puppy is adorable, that it doesn't mean that puppy (or dog) will fit their lifestyle.

I run into this all the time, when people see one of my hounds. They tell me, " Wow! I've always wanted one of those!"..Well, I'm sure that they may have been attracted to this showy/flashy breed, but that they probably don't really know anything about them, and that they won't likely fit their lifestyle.

When a person chooses the wrong breed, or type, they either live in misery, relegate the dog to the back yard, or take the dog to a shelter, as soon as the 'cute' wears off.

Also, families think they want a puppy, not realizing that the puppy that is so cute, will be a DOG in a few short months. September is traditionally Shelter Overload month, as, the puppy acquired for the kids for the summer, is suddenly an untrained monster dog, and the kids are back in school.

Legit: The trait, is *connection*. I have never had such a mental connection with another breed. It is indescribable.

I went to look at a litter that my cousin was interested in. She had a 14 year old dog of this breed, and was wanting a youngster.

It was love at first sight. I was sitting in a rocking chair, and this 13 week old pup came over and put his head in my lap, looking up at me. We made a "connection", and when I went home, I couldn't get this puppy out of my head. So, I got every book I could find on the breed, spoke with breeders, studied the hounds on this pup's pedigree, and finally went back, knowing that I was making an informed decision. It had to be fate..All of the other pups had been chosen, but the ones my cousin and I had chosen on our first visit. The one that chose me is the great grandsire of the hound in my avatar.

How about donating some money to research a specific canine disease.. This is often over looked. This type of medical reseach helps humans as well as dogs. Many ethical breeders donate to these causes as do breed clubs. Another option is making a donation to your local vet teaching hospital, vet tech program, or local animal shelter. All these people can use the help.

I was drawn to springers because they are always happy. they have such a let's love life and live it to its fullest attitude.
