For the Regulars-This just occurred to me--Would you say the Hollywood sign actually is in Hollywood ?
Is the top of Mt. Lee actually to be considered " in Hollywood" ? I don't know, just a thought !
Very interesting--- even among all of you who are experts on things LA.and whose opinions I respect, we have 2 No's and 2 Yes's
BOO- I see what you are saying, but it's curious, to say the least, that, that particular mapping not only throws Griffith Park but also the fairly distinct neighborhood of Los Feliz in with and into another entirely different neighborhood, (Hollywood)....Oh, Well !!!! I'm not sure it matters but it's kind of interesting as the police precincts for the Hollywood Division don't match up with the Fire Departments district mapping either. And we haven't even started with what the post office does.

Yes, Mt. Lee is in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Dept of City Planning. Hollywood has defined boundaries that now appear to include Griffith Park and Los Feliz area, on their Hollywood Community Plan Map.

Locals who grew up here wouldn't consider Griffith Park and Los Feliz to be Hollywood, but technically, that's what they apparently are now.

Being that Hollywood is a state of mind, rather than a real place, one could argue the Hollywood sign is in Hollywood. It depends if you can wrap your mind around it. But in reality OBVI sounds right. Griffith park is in Los Angeles. LA is the place baby.

Saw it once in 1959, and haven't been back since, so I really don't care where it is. But just to play along I'll guess that it is not in Hollywood.

Nah. Remember, the sign originally said "Hollywoodland". It is in Griffith Park.
