WHY 365 DAY CALENDER BEFORE ACCEPTANCE OF COPERNICAN , HELIOCENTRIC?

the julian and gregorian calenders are 365 days long , the time it takes the earth to revolve round the sun , but they did not believe in the copernican helio centric views then so WHY

    The year was still 365 days whether you think the Earth revolves around the Sun, or the Sun around the Earth.

    We have Xmas day where it is because the Ancients celebrated the first day when the daylight noticeably lengthens, the Solstice is December 22nd/23rd and the New year is underway December 25th, and hey you've guessed it 365 days later is December 24th and you start all over again.
