It is the best policy to prevent war. If we are weak we will be attacked. If we are strong, no one will attack us.

And we should verify that other nations are not being unnecessarily aggressive and verification of this is necessary.

These are two euphemisms that have been misinterpreted by recent presidents that have brought us to the state we're in. Peace through strength is another way of saying what Teddy Roosevelt said over 100 years ago: "Walk softly but carry a big stick."

Unfortunately todays CIC believe this means that we are the International 911, and must attempt to right every wrong. It's too bad these people don't have sons to send off to war, this might temper their aggressive nature.

Trust but verify is another way of saying, "get the facts before you react !" In some way, the last three in the White House have ignored this practice.

    Peace through strength

Peace is defined as the experience of right relationship. Often you can't have peace without having war. Through the show of strength you can obtain peace. If you are perceived to be strong most people will not want to be at war with you. Therefore you will have peace.

    Trust but verify

I agree with Big Dan. Get the facts before you react. Make certain.

"Peace through strength" reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt.

"Trust but Verify" were made infamous by Nixon's administration.

It means that wimps will continue to be beaten up and liars will continue to lie.

I don't know where Scott Monster gets his information but these phrases are most strongly associated with our greatest president. Ronal Reagan.

It USED to be our credo, but the weak obama does not subscribe to these words.
