Computer freezing up constantly?

I was running Security Essentials and it froze up while scanning cursors. Ever since then, it just keeps freezing up and I can't do anything. I can't pull up web pages or use programs like iTunes. Is there something I can do in safe mode that will fix this problem?

Update:

Apparently it is going to have to go into the shop because it won't let me do a restore and I've restarted it about 30 times.

If possible, try shutting down and then restarting. If that seems to be of no help, you may need to restore it. Or, if possible, look through to see how much space has been taken up on the computer. The more space occupied, the more decrease in the performance. And if all that fails, contact a local HP store. My HP Mini 110 Netbook always froze up at the welcome screen a while back and it needed to be restored because the BIOS was corrupt.

Try and do a System Restore to a time when your computer was working okay. Or before you ran Security Essentials.

You may fix the problem, it is the easist way to do get back to normal.

You can run System Restore either in Safe Mode or in Windows.
