How can I cover scratches in my Novalis Golden Oak vinyl plank flooring?
I bought Novalis vinyl plank flooring after reading all the 5 star reviews on Lowes. It looks great on my floor, but it scratches very easily. I contacted the company, and got a form to fill in for a refund. I did not keep my receipts, unfortunately, but don't really want a refund. I just want to cover the scratches! Some are white, and some are deeper and gray. I've tried wood putty and one of those paint touch up pens, but they don't stick to it. Does anyone have a solution to this? There aren't that many of them so far, but have only been down for a few months. They have a 10 year warranty on them for normal household use. Being an older lady to boot I definitely don't have a lot of extraordinary use going on here. How can I cover them?

They make the tubes of silicone sealer in colors now, including some brown shades. Get a tube of that and use a popsicle stick to spread some into the scratches, wiping off the extra. I did that with a vinyl floor I had damaged by dropping a grinder onto it. I also think that Trafficmaster (also sold at Home Depot) sells a colored vinyl "grout" for using with the vinyl tiles. Ask them about it.
Many people don't realize they are scratching their floors with tiny bits of gravel and stones that get trapped in the pattern in the soles of their shoes from outdoor walkways and parking lots. Check your shoes, especially athletic or hiking type shoes with lug treads. I had that problem until I bought a boot cleaner block (with a stiff fiber brush on it) that I used to scrape off my shoes before I came in the door. I also try not to wear outside shoes in the house and switch to slippers inside the door. it does a lot to keep the house clean and keep the floors from scratching.

Did Lowe's install the floor? If so, they might have a record of this...go in there and raise a stink..demand the manager. Next time buy a better grade of floor and keep receipt. I do not believe any thing will cover the scratches well enough. Yo have scratched the top coloured surface away.
