Is it free to go online on your 3DS?

Does anyone know whether you have to pay to use an access point to go online at home on your 3DS, or is it free access? Found strong signals at home and wondered whether it's safe to use them or whether you have to pay to get online on the 3DS.

    its free. but to use the internet browser no!

    How could they possibly charge you extra for accessing your own WiFi? Of course it's free...
