Biology Question??????????????
A child has blood type B, while her mother has blood type O. The presumed father of the child has blood type A. Could this man be the father of the child?
Thank You Me Negato, but this was a science question. The answer I am looking for has something to do with Blood Types, and requires a little more detail. But thanks anyway.

The answer your teacher wants is
No. The type A man is not the father of the child. The child got her B blood type allele from the father because she did not get it from the mother who is type O.

no, he cannot be the father. if he were blood type AB then he might be the father.
blood type O is recessive in order to have it, you have to get the alleles from both of your parents. People w/ blood type O can only pass on O alleles to their children.
so mom has given the child an O allele and the biological father has given the child a B allele so the child has blood type B. the child's blood type is actually B w/ an O allele. the B is dominant.
the presumed father in your problem has blood type A (either AA or AO). He can only pass on A alleles (AA) or both A and O alleles (AO) to the child.
in your problem the mother is blood type O (OO) and the presumed father is blood type A (AA or AO) these two people can only have a child who is A (A-dad; O-mom) or possibly O (O-dad, O-mom-- O is only true if dad is AO and not AA). but these 2 people cannot have a child who is blood type B--the father is someone else.
