Do mormons ever serve missions in Salt Lake?

It seems like there are already so many mormons there, so I wonder - is there ever a time or circumstance where a young person would live at home and serve a mission during the day in the local community?

I live in Utah and there are Mormons everywhere. I mean, you are driving by and you catch at least 3 paris of missionaires on bikes. They are really nice though. And when church is out, the streets are crowded with cars or big families that walk home.

Missionaries go house to house very often, especially if you are a member. My mom is Mormon and every week, she would have missionaries over for dinner. A different pair every time. Sometimes I would cook for them. I'm not sure if they live at home, all I know is that the ones I spoke to lived in a home together.

You'd think they would not be many missionaries here, but there are so many, they know people by name. I think they want to convert the whole state.

THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints has full time LDS Missionaries and there are part time LDS Missionaries as well.

Full time LDS Missionaries are almost always from somewhere far away, who are serving the Church full time, with a companion. This is usually young Elders who are somewhere between 19 and 25 years old, who are not married yet.

Also Full time LDS Missionaries can be Young Women, who are at least 21, and who are worthy and unmarried. They go in pairs and are called Sister Missionaries. Their LDS Missions are one and half years long, compared to the young Men's Missions which are two years long.

Also there are older couples who go on Missions. Usually the Sister Missionaries, and the retired couple Missionaries drive in cars, or serve in more central locations like Temple tours and places like that.

However, there are also part time Missionaries who generally speaking merely assist the Full time Missionaries. It is kind of like the Military has full time personal and then there are reservist, the National Guard etc. So if things are too much for the full time Missionaries, then the local part Missionaries will help out whenever that is found to be necessary.

Like the Army National Guard, or the Army Reserves, many in those organizations are former full time Army Personal who are now in the National Guard, while pursuing a lucrative carreer, or some sort of education that interests them.

That is why sometimes you will see an a much older man, maybe even a retiree, who is with two younger Missionaries, that is because he is a local Missionary, that is just helping, usually providing transportation to and from an appointment, mostly as a helper.

So therefor not only in Salt Lake City, but in half the World (almost) there are not only Full time LDS Missionaries, there are also part time local LDS Missionaries, who serve to help their fellow man and woman come unto Christ.

Salt Lake has a lot more Non-LDS people than you would think. Also many Mormons in Salt Lake are not as devout as other members elsewhere, which is sort of common knowledge, among members of THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints, but perhaps is not as well known a fact by those who are not LDS themselves.

So therefor having Missionaries in Salt Lake is a very good idea, especially when you consider that most of the Missionary discussions are the results of LDS members giving referrals to the LDS Missionaries anyway.

Click http://mormon.org/ for more information on this or other questions about THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints. (A Church that is commonly referred to as "Mormons" because of a belief in The Book Of Mormon, Another Testament Of Jesus Christ.)

Yes. Salt Lake's LDS population is less than 50 percent of the total.

Church headquarters uses missionaries to help fill in the needs of the Family History Department and the Church History Departments. Sister missionaries serve the needs on Temple Square for part of their mission. Full-time elders (young male missionaries) serve in the surrounding area.

Those who live at home in Salt Lake (for various reasons) are likely to serve in the Family and Church History departments, particularly if there is a reason why they cannot serve (live) independently. There is a large need for part-time missionaries, as well.

sure. besides the indisputable fact that regularly they stay of their international locations. In some South American international locations almost 0.5 the missionaries are from that (or neighboring) places. some places have problems with visas and almost all missionaries are natives. In places like Europe the position our church isn't turning out to be as quickly as position like Brazil it truly is quite regularly individuals, yet we had some Italian missionaries in my project in Italy and they were all extremely cool and tremendous to be with, I favor we had more desirable of them. i might want to say variety of 0.5 of overseas missionaries sty of their u . s . and about 0.5 go elsewhere - yet once you're an Italian 18 twelve months previous Mormon boy your odds of going to Italy are probable more desirable than 50% on purely 2 missions and below 50% to pass to the different 350 missions, so odds are a strategies more desirable for them staying of their close by land.

Missionaries are also used to try to reactivate the lapsed members who don't go to church often. There are LOTS of those in SLC.

The LDS church does lots of statistical analysis on their results in general. They aren't having much success in Europe and other 1st world places with internet access. It's more likely they can reactivate an inactive member than it is they will get productive converts from Europe. European missions have been cut back and consolidated.

I live in Utah and yes they send LDS missionaries from other states and countries here to serve a mission. If you go to temple square there are tons of missionaries with their names and which country they are from on their badge.

No, non SLC mormons serve in SLC, UT. Mormons must leave their families to go away for 2 years, allowing no contact except through occasional letters. They must leave even if their mother has cancer, knowing they will never see her alive ever again. This is supposed to be "good" for them to do. Personally I think they take the "leave father and mother" a bit too far in that circumstance, but I'm pretty sure they don't anything wrong with it. Better them than me.
