What to do about incredible halitosis at work?
Superior has insane halitosis & body odor. I mean, beyond anything I've ever experienced, I cannot even describe how bad it is. I'm not an unusually sensitive person. I took it to an ever higher superior a few months ago who had a talk with him. For 1 day it was better. Am ready to quit, I cannot take it. It is gagging-ly bad. If I do anything, like put Listerine on his desk, he'll probably know it was me because I'm the only one directly under him. Suggestions?

Get a desk fan and room deodorant so you can at least control the environment around your desk. Live plants make oxygen if you have some natural light available but a fresh rose on your desk is cheery too. A perfumed scarf comes in handy (for you) when you need to get closer to him--keep it in your desk drawer or draped over the back of your chair.

he needs to drink more water probably. Get him some bottled water and a body spray. Make him know he stinks.

Talk to his boss again
If that person is really keeping you from working effectively they might even fire him
