most young people don't know the difference, and are confused by both. having no one to trust they choose not to take sides because they're afraid of what others will think of them. that's how liberals were born. they just agree to disagree

They are watching republicans cut programs that people need faster than Dexter can cut up a dead body. Then they see the democrats sit by passively and give in to almost everything the gop wants and the tea party nuts chanting 'cut cut cut' they are probably ashamed! In the meantime general electric pays no taxes, bank of america pays very little and more american jobs are shipped overseas.

The republican party was bought off by big business in the eighties and the democratic party gave up it's principles over a decade ago and is now controlled by corporations. I don't blame anyone for becoming an Independent these days.

Easy, a lot of us Gen X and Gen Y don't need a Party to identify ourselves. That is one of the reasons that both parties are losing members and are struggling to get the swing voters. It is funny that the last numbers I saw put the total percent belonging to a Party at around 55 to 60% that means roughly 40 to 45% are independent.

Consider the this that they identify themselves as environmentalist republicans meaning they define all in u.s.a. as republicans and the parties which back the constitution as republican.

they consider all citizens as republican.

they have room for socialist green part republican party and democrat party libertarian, moderate whatever.

Also with onstitution as computer program dowloaded or made into application on smart phones, twiiter, or whatever is out there. to them everyone in eveery nation on earth is republican.

and can utilize two web button constitution option to oppose unwanted google web advertisements.

    Source(s): constitution. suggestions.

Young people think for themselves and don't blindly follow one group. I agree with certain things from both parties so that's why I don't identify myself as one or the other.

Either A) They care more about being Conservative, Liberal, Libertarian, etc. than political party, or

    B) They too uninformed or downright stupid to know any better, but I hope A.
