Question 1 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points)

The three Math Idol judges have been eliminating contestants all day! The number of one-step equations and two-step equations who have been eliminated today is equal to 1120. If three times the number of one-step equations minus twice the number of two-step equations is equal to 1300, how many two-step equations auditioned today?

    Hi,

The three Math Idol judges have been eliminating contestants all day! The number of one-step equations and two-step equations who have been eliminated today is equal to 1120. If three times the number of one-step equations minus twice the number of two-step equations is equal to 1300, how many two-step equations auditioned today?

    x = one step

    y = two step

    x + y = 1120

    3x - 2y = 1300

Multiply the first equation by 2. Then add the 2 equations and solve for x. Plug that back in and solve for y.

    1300

    1120

    708

    412

Question 2 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points)

What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations?

    3x + y = 11

    –3x + 2y = 1

Add the equations together and solve for y. Real easy!!

    2

    4

y can be any number as there are infinitely many solutions to the system.

There is no y value as there is no solution to the system.

    --------------------------------------…

Question 3 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points)

What is the value of the x variable in the solution to the following system of equations?

    2x − y = 6

    4x − 2y = 12

Multiply the first equation by -2. Then add the equations and solve for x.

If x and y both drop out and you get a rue statement like 0 = 0, then there are infinite solutions. If x and y both drop out and you get a statement like 0 = 6, that is never true, so there is no solution to that problem.

    4

x can be any number as there are infinitely many solutions to the system.

There is no x value as there is no solution to the system.

    --------------------------------------…

Question 4 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points)

What is the value of the x variable in the solution to the following system of equations?

    4x + 2y = 6

    x – y = 3

Multiply the second equation by 2. Add the equations and solve for x.

    5

    −2

    2

    --------------------------------------…

Question 5 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points)

What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations?

    3x − 6y = 3

    7x − 5y = −11

Multiply the first equation by 7 and the second equation by -3. Then add equations together and solve for x.

    −2

    −3

x can be any number as there are infinitely many solutions to the system.

There is no x value as there is no solution to the system

    I hope those hints/directions help!! :-)

it is not appropriate which area you initiate with, yet many math instructor desire to maintain the variables on the left. First, you will subtract one million/5p from the two sides to get -3/5p+2=11, then subtract 2 from the two sides to get -3/5p=9. Divide the two sides by utilising -3/5 or multiply by utilising -5/3 to get p=-15. desire this helped :D good success!

Im really sorry to tewll you this, but this isnt help this is US doing your HW go and at LEAST google how to do equations on google. Im not trying to be disrespectful, im just trying to tell you to try to do things by yourself. a question, is fine but a whole "exam" isnt right.
