Any books or films about every day life in Russia before the Revolution?
I am interested in people's experiences, reactions and views on their life in the Russian autocracy.
Diaries, films about family life or working conditions.. anything like that.
Suggestions?

Orlando Figes "A people's tragedy", this gives a great insight into the lives and beliefs of workers in all area of work such as peasantry and urban workers, as well as the conditions that led to the revolution. This is easy to read and covers EVERYTHING, highly recommended.
Could also try-
"A Radical Worker in Tsarist Russia: The Autobiography of Semen Ivanovich Kanatchikov"
Any of the works of Maxim Gorky, a famous contemporary.
"The Rise of Democracy in Pre-Revolution Russia", Jacob Walkin (although more to do with the revolution but contains people's views on democracy and life)
Leo Tolstoy, "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina" which present, in their scope, breadth and vivid depiction of 19th-century Russian life and attitudes.
Hope this helps :)

I would also advise 'A People's Tragedy' by Figes - it's really interesting, easy to read, and he's a great historian!
