neil armstrong jumped 6 foot high on the moon?

does this make him the highest free jumper in the universe , and is it possible to jump one foot high , on earth wearing the 1969 space suit

Update:

armstrong jumped 6 foot high , due to 1 /6 th of earths gravity , on earth he should be able to jump 1 foot high in the same space suit , , and yet on film the look like the can hardly walk in them

Update 2:

@martha thats a great acievement by javier sotomayor , but the high jump requires a run up to it , armstrong jumped from a standing position

I know of no occasion when any astronaut on the moon did a straight jump as high as his own head - among other things it would be very dangerous as was shown when people fell down and had to get back up - it he hit his helmet and cracked it, he would die. If you have video, you should reference it.

Further, as has been written, assuming a person could jump 6 times as high or as long in 1/6th gravity - the physics is more complicated, involving thrust and friction.

Neil Armstrong is about 80 years old today - I suspect he probably couldn't even jump one foot in a 1969 space suit these days.

The world record for the high jump is 2.45 m held by Javier Sotomayor on 27 July 1993 from Spain. 2.45 m is just over 8 feet. So even if Armstrong had jumped six feet on the Moon, he still wouldn't have been the highest jumper in the universe.

Twelve men (nine are still alive) walked on the moon. I'm not sure which of them holds the Moon record for high jump. Certainly none hold the world record.

    Fun question though!

Armstrong did not jump 6 feet high! Why don't you show the video first before you make such claims?

No, Neil Armstrong did not jump 6 feet high.

When you make absurd claims like that, you should include documentation. (Proof)

On earth he (Neil) could hardly walk much less jump.
