Cuz, if yes, that seems really cocky and it will cause other teams to play harder against them so that they can be dethroned

World Series winners can do pretty much what they want. If the Giants lose 100 games this season, they are still champs till someone else wins the Series.

Until the 2011 series, they are the reigning champions. So they can wear the patches if they want to.
And they wouldn't be the first ones to do so.

They earned them, they should wear them if they like. And no one needs more incentive to play hard at this level.
