I'm at school but I want to apply for a summer job back home?

I want to get a summer job but I'm not at home, so I can't physically go to the places I'm applying for or hand them a resume. Do you think calling them would work?

no, see if they have an online application. if not, just send them a resume by mail and address it to the HR manager. normally a physical resume is better than a phone call because if the HR manager is busy when you call, will be annoyed if he has to stop whatever he is doing to handle a job query. buy if he can look at it at his leisure, then will be more apt to keep it on hand for when they are ready to hire.
