I am in CA, my grandmother was a Deckwa and am researching the family...also the tight ties to the SCHENDLE family....

Ask the question on regional message boards for Germany. There are a number of free boards. I like the message boards at GenForum, RootsWeb and Ancestry. You may find cousins or people willing to do look-ups of local documents. Same for SCHENDLE family.
