What do you think is more important, starting out strong in the 1st Q or ending strong in the 4th Q?

Update:

Snagglepuss- this has nothing to do with D Rose or the bulls. I'm just asking this so i can get an opinion on everyone else. I personally think the 1st quarter is more important.

Update 2:

Oh snaggle, you pussied out and deleteed your answer huh?

    What up Poodhini,

i think going back to the Michael Jordan Bulls that won 72-10- they were a team known for starting strong and putting their foot on the gas. So that usually the game was over by the middle of the 3rd quarter- and they could rest their starters (esp. on back-to-backs) and give their bench players experience and playing time in the 4th quarter.

1st quarter because it sets the tone of the game. What happens in the first quarter is a likely indicator as to how the rest of the game will turn out. The 1st quarter also impacts the score going into the 4th quarter.

Ending strong in the 4th is nice, but it doesn't matter all that much if you're down by 30 or up by 20. Games RARELY come down to the final possession or a game-winning shot.

Every game starts with a 0-0 tie: anything can happen, come out strong and show the other team that you mean business. Fast forward to the final minutes and the game has already been decided 95% of the time.

The 1st quarter sometimes impacts the 4th, but ending the 4th quarter, if it's close enough, determines who wins. The 1st quarter is only a part of how you get there. If you hit a three to end the first and you take the lead, that's cool. If it's the 4th, then game over you win.

Ending strong in the 4th and ill say why. When the other team is fatigued after such a long game, you can really take a strong advantage if you finish off strong in the 4th.

    ending the 4 Q strong.

having a big lead in the 1st half is always welcomed but most teams fall asleep.......and there's plenty of time for teams to make runs...since this is the NBA....it will happen.

Depends how bad and bad you start. You can start really, really bad and get blown out by like 30pts, and going for a run in the fourth might not get you a comeback

ending strong in the 4th duh, i hate when teams start blowing out other teams during the first half to just sleep on their lead during crunch time
