Ok, I hope my advice helps! I was in this situation...
I had a certain non religious belief about something I'm strongly against.. May as well say it straight, I hate smoking.
There was this girl, my close friend, and she seemed to share the same opinion, and my crush said he'd never smoke. So I was happy.
Then he came up to me smoking, and I had a right go at him
-LESSON ONE, DO NOT HAVE A GO AT THEM- ESPECIALLY ONLINE! They could show anyone the conversation, anyone could be there.
I haven't talked to him since. Its been about 4 months.
Then the girl who was a close friend started smoking. Again, I did my little thing and had a go at her.
-LESSON TWO. DON'T SAY A BUNCH OF STUFF YOU DON'T MEAN- MAKE SURE YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY
I said to her in the end, when I had given up all hope and I was really angry, I said ; If you want to smoke that's your problem, for all I care you can kill yourself. By that I meant via smoking, but she took it the wrong way and told everyone I told her to die.
-LESSON THREE. IF HE GOES AROUND TELLING YOUR BUSINESS TO EVERYONE, TALK TO SOMEONE!
I told that girl a LOAD of my secrets, which now, sadly, the whole school know. If he starts telling everyone your stuff, tell someone- a sister, a brother, a parent, a teacher, ANYONE!
-LESSON FOUR, DON'T BE SCARED TO APOLOGISE
It may not seem to you like you've done anything wrong, but doesn't mean it's that way to them. They probably feel the same. And I didn't talk to the girl for 5 weeks, at least. She apologised to me in the end, but I apologised in return.
But what are you apologising for?
For saying something to him that you didn't think would upset him, and ask him what's wrong. You MAY have said something to hurt him, you never know. Explain how you feel to him.
Good Luck!
