Do I owe the client a refund?

I was hired by someone to photograph her sisters bachelorette party. She paid upfront for everything as she wouldn't be able to attend.

I overbooked for that day and was running late so I called the phone number to explain that I would be there within 30 minutes. The lady who answered the phone must have had a hard time hearing me due to the loud music playing in the background, but she yells out "He will be here in a half-hour" and then I heard a lot of women screaming as the phone was hung up.

After I pulled up, I got the camera ready then knocked on the door. I was literally dragged into the house and had a gaggle of screaming, drunken women dancing around me (with some being a little too "touchy"), so I started dancing with them and taking photos. As this went on, they kept yelling "take it off!"...so I changed lenses from a 50mm to a 16-35mm (thanks to a hip pouch). This evidently was not what they meant, as a couple of them proceeded to start removing various pieces of my clothing....you know "the customer is always right"...so I continued dancing and taking photos.

Two hours later, I finally left. I went home, processed the images and sent them to the sister. She called me yesterday, very upset and demanding a refund since the photos only show the women taking photos with their cameras and none of the stripper. I asked "what stripper?" and she said I was there to get photos of the women and the stripper. She called back 20 minutes later to tell me that the stripper went to the wrong address (and the 80 year old neighbor still has a smile on her face). But she still wants a refund since I didn't deliver what she wanted.

I feel since I delivered shots of the party, I fulfilled my duty. To me, if I did such a bad job, the ladies would not have kept sticking money in my hip pouch ($473.62). Any opinions???

Funny funny. You are very into pleasing ur customers. But all joke aside NO!! like you said u did your job and showed up. The stopper didn't show up so you were still there to take your photos. Don't do it. She needs to find re stripper to get a refund.

civil mater and yes she can sue you. it dosnt matter were the check came from, she paid you, you took the money, you canceled the contract, you owe her a refund. she can sue you for far more than that 450. it could end up you paying court cost, if she can prove you messed up her wedding you could pay for that, the list goes on. if you think you can get out on some kind of loophole your wrong.

Ya know, alcohol and expectations should never be uttered in the same phrase. The stripper went to the wrong address. Tough luck. You came. You shot. You got paid.

    No, I SAID PAID! :D

You did what was paid of you.. The stripper however should be the one giving a re-fund.. I would argue with her on you doing your job, not real argue tho, but tell her you DID your job. You were not informed of a stripper and you were to shoot him too.

    .

Because of this, even in small claims court, she won't have much to stand on in demanding she get her money back, and winning..

    .

Sounds like a lot of our parties tho..

I'm no lawyer, but I don't believe you owe her anything!
