2002 F 350 7.3 Diesel truck with 200,000 miles. What would cause a bad misfire and lack of power?

The truck was parked facing down hill with very little fuel in the tank (the trip meter said 45 miles to empty). It started right up, pulled away from the curb and started missing. Got to the bottom of the hill and pulled over to see if it would clean out. No luck. Parked the truck and went back the next day with 5 gallons of diesel to see if it maybe sucked some air into the lines. It took about 15 minutes to get it to start again. Once it started, we limped it home (about 6 miles) and parked it. I have since changed the fuel filter, cam position sensor and pulled the valve covers to make sure the plastic injector clips did not break. Still no luck. Does anyone have an informed idea as to what might be causing the problem? Next, I am going to pull the fuel lines at the pump and make sure they are not clogged. Any good advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It does sound like air,but it could have picked up some trash from the bottom of the tank being almost empty and parked on a slope.

i do not understand of any web content in certain....i wager note of mouth may be the superb. I at present own a 'ninety six F-350 dually team cab, 2 wheel stress with 240K on the odometer. 2 major complications so a lengthy way were a transmission change at 195K (I do a lot of intense mileage towing) and at present an injector project (crap diesel). except that....that's been one heck of a truck! It nonetheless pulls as reliable because the day it become new. I in basic terms replaced the front rotors....they were the originals! And the front end continues to be tight with all unique elements! Having worked at a Ford dealership, i am going to allow you to recognize, I talked about 4 wheel stress themes the most with F-sequence automobiles. The vacuum operated hubs were/are junk (change to steer hubs). notwithstanding, the 6.0 diesel, in my opinion, isn't everywhere close to virtually as good because the 7.3....per chance they have were given the insects worked out of them because I left Ford 2 years in the past yet on the on the spot, the hot 6.0 had a lengthy record of themes....usually oil leaks. again, note of mouth, i imagine may artwork the superb....ask someone who owns the same 3 hundred and sixty 5 days/type you go with to get and discover out what their wondering is....
