Does this statement make sense?

Depression is a symptom of suicide. I really dont think it does do you? If you agree with me how do I argue that the statement is wrong?

Update:

It was a true or false question on my test and i put false and he counted it wrong, i just was upset because it was a stupid question.

    That's a tough one. I'd say it's wrong. Depression is more like a possible cause of suicide I suppose. IT can result in suicide if untreated.

    It could be but not necessarily is. What does he offer as support for a definite statement like that?
