Can members of the YA community ask reasonable political questions?

It seems that many YA community members on all ends of the political spectrum use the Politics forum ask hyperbolic, uninformed, rhetorical questions for the mere purpose of rallying fellow ideologues and getting a rise out of the other side.

This trend is unlikely to change anytime soon, so I figure I might as well add my own rhetorical question to the mix:

Is it possible for people on YA to ask legitimate political questions for the purpose of real debate, and to possibly try and reach a greater understanding of those who might have alternate point of view politically?

10 points to the most thoughtful/amusing answer.

It's possible and it does happen from time to time. It seems every legitimate question gets a majority of answers that are poor attempts at being clever. I think that there are a lot of childish people on here who have no life and just take a great amount of pride by making the whole group look like a collection of angry little brats.

Serious, well thought out answers show up from time to time but I really don't think most people take the time to read them, they just give them a thumbs down and post some snide, ill informed answer...

I answer one thousand cases extra. I spend an incredible sort of time in M&D (consequently the TC badge), yet as i'm fortunately married, i attempt to grant suggestion to those ho are hurting. Been there myself. once I do ask a question, that is because of the fact I truthfully choose tips.

Probably not. Getting a rise out of the other side is fun.

I try that every so often but I find that when you ask a hard question of a liberal they don't answer. They may come in and type some shite but they do everything but actually answer the question.

So what I do is make fun of their hypocrisy. It is easy because they are pure hypocrites and I have fun doing it.

No, there are no real political accommodations that can be reached with diametrically opposed loons.
