How active is the 10-meter Amateur Radio Band now (April 2011)?

I'm looking at setting up a 10-meter rig for DX communications. Just wondering how much activity is typical during the day now that we're coming out of the solar minimum? Can many QSO's be made around the US? Thanks.

The solar flux is over 100.. a bit low for really good DX. You need a solar flux around 200. nonetheless, the E-layer propagation should start rolling pretty soon.

There have been a few USa openings, as well as several to South america. It looks like the CW folks are having a lot of luck.

I haven't had any luck; but I run QRP SSB. Still I have high hopes for the Summer E season.

By this time next year, we may be lucky and see openings to Europe.

This should be a great time, what with the sunspot cycle practically begging hams and swl-ers to get out there.

Here is a link to a good bit of information, and it includes another link for current information on activity in that band. I have also pasted that link with the main one.

By changing the frequency in the URL, you can go to some other bands, too. For example,

http://www.ham-radio.ch/dxc/top_50_21_MHz.html will take you to the 15-meter band, which looks promising, too.
