dry the unit, use a primer sealer and then a coat of good quality epoxy paint

Unplug it and leave the door open for several days to make sure it is totally dry. Sand the rusted area with 220 grit sandpaper and then remove all of the dust. Use a spray primer, (white), to cover the bare metal and then use a spray Appliance White.
