Xander..Not Alexander?
So, I like the name Xander for a boy, but don't really like Alexander, which is what it's usually short for.
Do you think having a son named Xander (just Xander) would be ok, or do you think he'd constantly get asked if he's name is short for Alexander?

Xander is perfectly fine as a full name, and much more modern than Alexander (which is sort of a mouthful).
I met a little boy named Xander last week. He was about 2 with redish blonde hair, and completely adorable. When his dad introduced him I never once thought "I wonder if that's short for Alexander".
I think it is fairly accepted as a first name on it's own now that he would not run into any trouble thinking it was just a nickname.

Alexander as the name and xander as a nick name would work. Sorry but xander rhymes with too much for my taste

Honestly, I don't tie the two names together. Yes, they are similar, but I think Xander stands very well on it's own.

I like the name. I actually don't even associate it with Alexander. But if you're worried, spell it Zander.

Constantly asked. He'd probably get extremely annoyed by it, and maybe develop a complex about it.
