Myer Briggs is better than Horoscopes?

They are both based on the same prinicipals, actually. XD

The Myers Briggs Type indicator was developed during WWII as an aid to help "sort" the personality types of women entering the workforce.

"The mother/daughter team of Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers developed the MBTI®. They based their lifelong work on Carl Jung's theories about psychological type preferences. Jung's book Psychological Types published in 1921, studied ancient and modern cultures. The premise of his work was to discover how normal human beings take in information and how they make decisions. He also studied two core mental functions relating to how people get and expend their energy.

After reading Jung's work, Myers and Briggs devoted themselves to bringing the everyday applications of this work to the general public. Myers developed the pen & pencil test in the 1940's. They tested it on friends and family during WWII hoping to resolve conflicts and help match people to appropriate work. It took over 20 years to fully develop the instrument.

Myers and Briggs added a forth dimension to Jung's scheme focusing on how people deal with the outer world. They determined that each person has an external orientation towards orderliness and decisiveness (judgment) or towards new information and going with the flow (perception)."

Now, Astrology was developed in prehistory, somewhere around the third millenium BC. The concepts of astrology have been refined and challenged through history as a science, until the Age of Enlightenment, when , during the Spanish Inquisition, the Church forced the study of astrology underground. During this time is when the Church was first attempting to intigrate Pagan religions into Catholicism (which is also why we celebrate Easter, Halloween and Christmas, btw), and the practice of seeking the stars for wisdom was frowned upon (I'm using a euphanism here, since there was some burning at the stake involved)....this is also approximately the time when astronomy as a science was born, the bastard child of astrology, newly renamed as something that would not offend the Church...much, at least. There were a few astronomers who were tortured as heretics, too.

Regardless, the practice of studying the stars has been further refined by the psychologists of the twentieth century, so that modern astrology incorporates a considerable amount of psychology, mostly from the teachings of, you guessed it, Carl Jung.

Sooooo...whether you "believe" in astrology or not, it's not a bad thing to explore both ideas before throwing one out as witchcraft, much like the Inquisitioners did. They are both just tools to greater understanding.

Now, the "horoscopes" you're referring to...well, they are like the "See Spot Run" of astrology. They are only a place to start, and once you move beyond the kindergarten level of astrology, you might find horoscopes to be just a bit too "Telletubbies" for you.

I love Myer Briggs! of course, I love anything with a questionnaire... but Myer Briggs has been around for less than a century and doesn't have anything to do with predicting, it's just a personality indicator. Astrology on the other hand has been around since the Babylonians and consequently has centuries of observable data to draw from, not to mention it is a useful tool for understanding how to deal with difficult times and get the most from good ones, which is all part of the predictive nature of it.

But if all you know about astrology is from newspaper horoscopes, I'm not surprised you have such a poor opinion of it! Newspaper horoscopes have only been around for a century, and were created by an English astrologer named Alan Leo to promote his business. They aren't seriously meant to be anything other than titillating, entertaining and fun, and many of them aren't even written by astrologers...

As for which is best this has a lot to do with what you are asking and why. Both are tools, but tools are only effective when used correctly.

This questionnaire which measures behavioral tendencies certainly sounds interesting. I bet it's indepth, indeed.

Astrology is indepth as well. Horoscopes are, of course, bs. A billion other individuals have your sun sign and they don't behave as you do, no. I understand how Astrology is misinterpreted by the public.

I, personally, am very opened minded, but I believe the emotion reaction of an individual is dependent on their moon sign. I've studied this to conclude that it could, in fact, be very accurate. My emotional response corresponds with my moon sign very accurately. Now, one can simply say, yeah, as well as your emotional response can be accurate with all the signs. Well, for me, that's not the case. I don't response how an Aries, Leo or Sagittarius moon would. I don't response neither how an Earth sign or Air sign would. I respond how a water sign would; Scorpio in particular. The element of water perceive similarly as every sign of a particular element would.
