What would be a more grown up term for "boyfriend"?

I'm not really comfortable in calling my boyfriend a "boyfriend" for the mere fact that we are not kids any more. We're in our 30's and we've been together for over 3 years! We live together and are basically a married couple, except that we're not married and I don't want to call him my "husband" for that reason. I'm not sure about calling him my "partner" either because that makes it sound like a business relationship! "Man-friend" just sounds funny!

Any suggestions?

No boyfriend is fine. I have an aunt that is around 60 that had two "boyfriends." It sounds real natural .

Lover sounds like you're doing it all the time and only reason you are together. Your "partner" makes me think "life partner" which reminds me of gays. Man-friend reminds me of the song Man-Killer (or somthing like that) or something you hear from women in nursing homes.

Just call him your "boy toy" and tell whoever asks, that you're on the make and he's the best thing you found so far.
