Best websites for learning French? And advice on learning two languages at once?

I can't take anymore Spanish classes because I don't have the electives left to do so. I didnt take full advantage of class time, and now I'm left to perfect my spanish on my own. Luckily, I have a good grasp on the basics and most of the verb conjugations, etc. I just need to practice more, on a daily basis so I can relearn much of what I've already learned in the past, and actually put it to use. Practice and consistency are my struggles but I'm getting better. Anyway, the best site I've found for learning Spanish is spanishdict.com. It's amazing.

I am definitely going to continue with Spanish because I'd like to go to Spain to teach English for a year after graduation. However, I also want to learn French. I did start a bit last summer, but I didn't follow through with it. I found some great youtube videos, but I never found anything for French comparable to spanishdict.com with an online community/forum, video lessons accompanied by flash cards, etc.

I'm searching for a great website for learning French, starting from the basics. I know absolutely no French. (Aside from common, popular words and phrases like "c'est la vie.")

Also, what are some tips or advice for learning two languages at once?

I'm thinking of going to meet up groups that I've found on meetup.com (it's legit, dont worry) for Spanish and French. I know of one Spanish group in the NYC area, for example, that actually has workshops for different levels, as well as conversation meetings at restaurants, movie nights, etc. My only concern is that the people seem to be older. I'd worry it would be a bit awkward for me. I'm 21.

check out www.playsay.com/edu for free digital spanish flashcards that you can use on your cell phone or ipod. that way you do not have to waste time writing your own flashcards and you can review french and spanish phrases everywhere. also check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/ for an amazing resource on all things french. keep up with spanish, watch kids movies like mulan in spanish and other cool stuff like that. keep practicing both languages too. good luck!

This is my favorite site: http://ielanguages.com/french1.html

French and Spanish are quite different from each other... they're distinct languages. You shouldn't have trouble focusing on one and then the other. I'm always trying to be better in Japanese, Korean, Italian, French... to name a few. Singing songs in those languages definitely helps me.

I would say to give the meetup groups a try: You might make some new friends, even if they are odler than you.

I'd also suggest http://www.lang-8.com/ . It's an online journa slite where people write blog entries and have them corrected by native speakers. I'm pretty sure you can find people to have conversation practise with, too.

If you're after some more unusual/modern vocab, I'd also suggest http://www.wordreference.com/ because its online forum is amazing!

Hi! Have you tried the BBC website about Beginner Languages for French or Spanish onwards via Google.....they are free of cost and excellent......?

It is best to keep track of your knowledge of languages and practice with natives if possible...you will become fluent in no time if you are determined to learn in your own space without rushing things and I hope you enjoy them too!

    Good luck!

I use Busuu.com to learn German, and you can learn French on there too. I like this website because you can talk to people who are native to a language. For learning two languages at once, you should try to review often on both and be carful not to mix them up. It's really hard to learn two languages at once because of mixing them up, but if you are carful it should be ok.

print the lyrics of a couple of Georges Brassens songs, eg La Parapluie

then find the songs on youtube and follow the lyrics as he sings.
