What does my recurring dream mean?

Ever since I was 6 years old, I've had this dream over and over again. Not like every night, but once every 2 months.

So I'm in this car, sitting in the back, far right seat. It's not a van, but more of a small car, that can only fit 5 people. In the front of the car in the driver's seat is this person. I always recognize them in my dream, but I never see their face, only a shadow of their ear and hair. Also, even though I "know" them in my dream, I don't when I wake up.

We're driving down a dark, narrow road in the middle of the night with no streetlights. On either side of us lays woods with large trees. It's windy and leaves are blowing, and the trees are half-bare (not that many leaves). We keep driving, and suddenly the person jolts the car to the right (always the right) and we enter the woods. We increase in speed and go faster and faster and faster through all the trees and bushes, somehow not crashing. But eventually, there's one tree with a wide trunk. There's a small area around it that has no other trees or bushes, but after a few feet or so they appear again. Anyway, we head straight towards the tree, and once we're about to crash, I wake up.

Also, the person who's driving is always so calm. They don't show any sign of fear, just acting content, like this is where they're supposed to be headed. And even though I don't physically act scared in the dream (not moving, screaming, struggling or trying to escape) I can feel a wave of fear so intense I wake up sweating and gasping for air.

I've had this dream ever since I was a little girl, and it's so vivid that I can picture every single detail. Even though it's a nightmare, I don't want it to go away. I have a feeling I'm trying to tell myself something. What could this mean? Even if you're not right, just an opinion is good enough for me.

Oh, the person driving the car changes every dream. They always look exactly the same, but somehow I'm able to realize it's a different person. Dreams are amazing.

I'm guessing that when you were really young like 2 or 3, you were actually living this dream. Prolly in a cazr seat in the back and somebody was taking you somewhere maybe a friend of the family that you yourself wasn't real familiar with so you were paying a lot of attention to them up there driving you around because you were curious about them. And maybe they were driving kind of fast and you were a little scared but as for the crash that could just be the fear of the speed or the driving with someone you didn't feel real comfotable with manifesting it self as a fear of crashing. It may not have even happened exactly as your dream remembers it but it can become distrorted because your mind was not fully developed when this happened to you. Tramatic experiences that happen just before you develop a strong sence of conciousness can stick with you forever. They are imbedded deep inside you. I would just be happy you have this dream because it is yours and nobody elses.

If it's been going on since you were 6, it's probably something to do with your family. Maybe you feel like no one really cares about your safety. It's not a sad dream, but a dream warning you to not trust others close to you because their lack of care will let you down. If you feel like you don't want to get rid of it, that's probably because your subconscious wants to continue to remind you. Pay close attention to what happens the day after you have the dream, because I don't believe that dreams can tell the future, but I don't disbelieve it either and it can't hurt to observe. Also try to recall what happened the day before you had the dream, because some emotion or experience could be triggering it.
