What do you think about Roger Federer this year?
i dnt think roger is at the age where he is suppose to be losing his touch. and im a big fan of his and im kinda worried. just a few days ago, he lost to jurgen melzer... world currently number 9, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. what is going on? His ATP record drop from 90-5 (2006) to 24-5 this year.
and really, when i see him play these days, i think he doesnt have the same "spirit" he used to have before. and he seems a bit off focused and has so many errors like, out and net balls, is he losing confidence? or is it something mental? or is it his physical condition?

Hm...
- Title in Doha
- Three semi-final appearances (including Aus Open)
- And a quarter-final.
- Win/loss record almost 5/1
- Has only lost to top ten players
His progress so far sounds above average to me. Maybe to his standards probably average or just below par. If he didn't create such a monster during 2004-2007, maybe being world 3 (at the age of almost 30) wouldn't seem so bad to everyone.

a win/loss record of 24-5 so far doesn't seem too great but when you consider that 3 of those losses were to djokovic (who has had 1 of the best starts to a season ever), another of the losses was to the world #1 and even the "worst" loss of the 5 vs melzer was to a top-10 player, its not actually that bad of a start to the season. also factor in that in the 6 tournaments he has played this year he has won 1, made 1 QF and 2 SF's in three masters 1000 tournaments, made the SF in the Australian Open and also got to the final of Dubai - its a pretty sound record for any player to have.
the simple fact is that he cannot dominate the game like he did years ago, he is older, guys like rafa and djokovic are a lot better than they were and he has other things in his life that he must focus on too like children etc.

Nobody knows about this now but I hope he can be as persistent as Ivan Ljubicic (32 this year and still in Pro Tennis ) .
Well, Maybe he's busy taking care of his family and his kids, hence not putting in as much attention into Tennis as before. At least it's great that he puts he's family before his career :)

Roger Federer is a great player, but I think his time is up. He's not as young as he used to be, and on top of that the competition's fiercer than ever.
