Is sushi in New York City safe to eat even though there were radiation leaks in Japan?

I know that sushi is a japanese food, so I'm afraid that some of that radiation could have gotten into the fish/rice/etc. Does the fish in sushi restaurants here come from Japan? Is it still safe to eat sushi?

Are you for real? What an idiotic question.

Paris Hilton said she couldn't come down with swine flu because she doesn't eat pork.

Although you are correct, that sushi is a Japanese concept, the fish and other ingredients come from locations all over the world. Many fish are actually farmed in controlled environments. If you are worried about where their ingredients come from, do not hesitate to ask. A good sushi chef will probably know where his fish came from and how long ago they were caught.

Sushi is from Japan. Fish on the other-hand come from the oceans/seas/lakes/rivers all over the world.

I wouldn't trust it. Some of the radiation could have gotten in the rice fields. You might grow some weird body parts from the sushi... be careful.

It's very safe. The fish doesn't come from Japan.

Unless the fish was near any radioactive substance or was prepared improperly it is safe to eat.
