Yes. The "official" minimum score on the AFQT (Armed Forces Qualification Test) (a "part" of the ASVAB) is only 36%.

However, when you get to the recruiters and take the official ASVAB test they will tell you that "UNLESS" you score a 50% or higher they will not enlist you into the Air Force.

See, the AF Recruiting Service has instituted an "unofficial" minimum score by raising the minimum 14 percentage points over the official score of 36%. They will "tell" you that because there are "so many people waiting in line to even get to basic training - these days, and because there may be only 1 person a month from each recruiter allowed to actually enlist, that the AF can "raise" their standards because so many people want to join.

So, you have better go buy an ASVAB study book ($20) at the mall book store and study it for at least 30 days (about 15 pages day)(and I do mean study it) before you even think of visiting any recruiter to sign up.

If you won't do this "investment" for yourself then don't even consider joining the Air Force. Period.

Well to actually pass you have to get more then a 36 but to actually have them consider you, you'll need a score of 50 or above. They're not just letting anyone in anymore.
