How do rabbits respond to being on a leash?
My family recently purchased a small young bunny, about six weeks old. The rabbit has more energy than I was expecting. our yard is not very securely fenced. Would it be Ok to stake the bunny on a leash, or talk a walk with a leashed bunny?

We had a bunny once, and he was OK on a leash. Sometimes he tried to chew through it. What I would recommend is making a small fenced in area (about 8 feet by 10 feet) and buy/make a hutch for him. Do not just leave him alone tied up, he could easily chew through it. The fenced in area should be plenty of room, we just left ours in it all day. If you want, you can still take him for a walk, just be careful of cars.
Hope this helps!

I took my bunny out once on his leash and he didn't mind it. He just wanted to go where he wanted to go and didn't enjoy if I tugged a little to encourage him to walk with me. I only took him in the yard, definitely not down the street. But a few times, once he got use to it, he would try to run randomly and him being on the leash didn't give him the room to run. It's not easy to know when they want to run so it's not easy to run with him. Just make sure its a snug fit. It will look too small on your bunny but that just because their actual body isn't as big as it looks because of all the fur. And not too tight on their neck so it can breath, about 1-2 fingers should fit between the color and your bunnies neck. I just bought an outdoor play pen with a net covering on it that I will let him run around in and keep a close eye on in case he starts to dig! Maybe that's more of something you would like to try. Hopefully this will help you out!

I dont know that i would walk on the street with a tiny bunny but i had a bunny leash for mine and enjoyed takeing him out in the backyard .
just make sure the harness you attach the leash to fits properly you wouldnt want to have the bunny slip out.

yea sure
rabbits love to be walked and it keeps them stimulated and happy
my rabbit has a special rabbit harness which you can buy for about £3-£5 at a pet shop and he has a dog lead as the one that came with the harness is too short.
do not get an ordinary dog or cat collar because they can get out of it
only walk him around the house and in the garden and maybe just outside your house just in case
dont pull or tug on the lead because this will teach your rabbit to become frightened of it and wont put the harness on.
bunnies dont walk like dogs, they lead and you follow. dont tug them along but if they do start to go the wrong way, just stand still and dont pull back or let him go forward and eventually he will get the idea.
its a good idea to do this when they are young to get him used to it
best of luck, hope it goes well

yes its ok. BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET A HARNESS THEN A SMALL LEASH TO CONNECT IT TOO.! its not good to have a collar on a bunny but a harness is good because you can take it on and off. make sure you keep an eye on him tho. be careful where you go with him on the leash because a bird could come down and swoop him up.

instead of leashing it, put it in a doggy pen! you can get one of these doggy pens at petco or petsmart :) they're perfectly safe for bunnies

It will be very hard to walk it anywhere and pretty much guaranteed to chew through it, regardless if you are watching or not
