Yes - you are allowed to install QuickBooks Pro 2011 on both a laptop and a desktop with only one user license - the only caveat is that you are the only user.

If you plan on working on QuickBooks both at home and in the office you have a couple of alternatives open to you: (1) You simply create a backup of the company file on a flash drive from one computer, let's say the desktop at the office, and then restore the backup to your laptop - then once you finish working with QuickBooks on your laptop you reverse the process and create a backup of the company file on a flash drive from your laptop and then restore the backup to your desktop and work with QuickBooks on your desktop (2) Your second choice is to login remotely from home with your laptop and access QuickBooks on your desktop in the office - as someone has mentioned LogMeIn is a great tool to accomplish this method.

Please note: if you do go with the remote access you will need to leave your desktop on and will need a reliable internet connection.

I've used both methods and they both work great - it comes down to personal preference.

  • First things first.. yes, you can install it on your laptop. Once you are finished, not only do you have to install QuickBooks in the office, but you have to move the data file into the office as well.

The best thing in your situation would be to install QB and use it in the office. Then purchase a remote software such as LogMeIn and install it on that office computer. Then from your laptop at home, you can log into the office computer and work on it as if you were sitting in front of it.

Hey, if you're looking for a way to make money, My friend was in the same situation, nothing worked for him until he came across this little program. He's been having good success with it, maybe this is something which could work for you.

    Good Luck
