Kagamine Rin(Female) and Len(Male) are VOCALOID in Crypton Future Media's Character Vocal series that run on the VOCALOID2 platform. They are synthesized voices in a computer program with avatars drawn by KEI Garou.

They have an ACT1 set of voices that is no longer sold or supported by CFM, have an ACT2 base software, and Appends which require ACT2 or ACT1 installed to install.

Basically an Append set is new voices in different styles than the original voice.

Rin has warm, sweet and power appends.

Len has cold, serious, and power appends.

These programs run for around 202 USD plus shipping for one program.

There has been debate over the relationship of the Kagamines, seeing as they have the same last name, people believe they are twins, but KEI and Crypton have both told us this is not the case.

Kagamine in english means Mirror-sound, and Rin and Len are puns on Right and Left.

They are mirror images of eachother, quoting Crypton off the official website: "『鏡音リンレン』は、鏡合わせの様に少女声と少年声がワンセットになったコンセプチュアルなバーチャルシンガー"

The Kagamine are 14 years of age, were first released to the public with ACT1 on December 27, 2007. It was a Thursday.

Rin is 152cm tall, weighs 43kg, and has an optimum vocal range of F#3~C#5.

Len is 156cm, weighs 47kg, and has an optimum vocal range of D3~C#5.

Their official webpage on the CFM website can be located here: http://www.crypton.co.jp/mp/pages/prod/vocaloid/cv...

Their official Append Webpage on the CFM website can be located here: http://www.crypton.co.jp/mp/pages/prod/vocaloid/cv...

Welcome to the world of Vocaloids~

'kay. First things first. You should know what a Vocaloid is. Vocaloid is a software. I'm guessing you already know this, but I just want to clarify that. Since they're software, they don't have personalities. They're non-living things, they're not so different with MS word, or adobe photoshop. Softwares don't have personalities.

It's us, the fans who make them, and the producers who produce the songs. For example, the producer Akuno-P makes Rin sing as an evil person (Daughter of Evil), but in another song she is an innocent girl (Dessert Blue Bird). It depends on the producers.

However, they do have a character item. Miku 'likes' negi / leek / green onions. While Rin and Len 'likes' the road roller. Rin 'likes' orange, Len 'likes' banana.

It's just that fans then started drawing fanarts with those items in it.

Bottom line, they don't have personalities. It's us, the fans, and / producer that makes them.

    And lastly...

Whaaaaat? You've heard almost all their songs? O_O

Then let me be the first to tell you this. The last time I check Rin and Len have 80,000 videos + in YouTube, probably songs / covers for songs by them.

While Miku... Who knows how many she has. Lots. I have around 150 songs by Rin and Len in my iPod, how about you? ^_^

For more info & facts about Vocaloid, there's always wiki. A mini guide for you. http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Mythbusters

The best thing to do is to listen to a bunch of different songs they sing, what I did was started with "Meltdown" by Kagamine Rin, and then worked my way through the suggestions column that they give you on youtube... Although it is impossible to know everything about them, because just about every song shows a new story and personality to them, but it's a lot of fun to watch as many as you can!
